Dear supporters of the Crystal Theatre vinyl project,
From the bottom of our hearts we say: thank you. It’s due to your generous support of Belles Will Ring throughout this project that we are now able to get that amazing vinyl re-issue on the shelf. No matter how large or small, your pledges have all combined to make this an official go-ahead, and a fantastic group effort. We are very proud and grateful that we have so many dedicated fans and friends who are willing to get on board with us. So to each and every one of you supporters, we tip our hats in salute to you!
As we’re sure you are anticipating this vinyl release as eagerly as us, we are now busily preparing all sorts of things to send out to you guys including personal thanks, drawings from Aidan, specially recorded acoustic numbers, signing our whole back catalogue, and getting the gears speedily in motion to have the artwork designed, assembled and the album masters sent off to the magical record factory.
And now, onwards to try and get everything in motion before Christmas!
By now you will have heard about our Pozible campaign to raise funds to re-issue Crystal Theatre on stunning 180g vinyl. Well, we’re nearly there!
But here’s the urgent part – we’re still just under $1000 short, with just over 2 days to go til the campaign ends. So if you were interested in supporting the project but haven’t yet pledged your amount, now is the time! We need you!
And pledge as little as $1 or as much as $2K to help us fund this amazing record. We are not only offering you our heart-felt thanks and eternal love, but for those willing to put in a little bit more we’ve got an amazing array of special personalized rewards that’ll make it all so so exciting to be a part of.
Thank you all so much for your help so far, I know we can get this over the line!
Oh and to vibe you up, here’s the latest of my little making-of films on the recording of the album out in the country in 2010. Enjoy, friends. And thank you – we wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for you.
Firstly, a huge thank you to all of those wonderful folk who have pledged an amount to our Pozible crowdfunding project to try to get our beloved Crystal Theatre pressed on heavyweight vinyl. It’s an expensive process and we are really excited that it’s now becoming a real possibility.
For those who have already contributed – we are currently concocting a little thank you, just for you guys. Stay tuned this week!
And for the rest of the world who haven’t jumped on board, we’re waiting with open arms! Head on over to our pozible site and contribute as little as $1 or as much as $1000 and help get this thing off the ground.
It goes without saying, the higher your pledge, the bigger and more amazing your personal incentive rewards will be. Check it out on the page above. We have so much in store for you, most importantly the deluxe record itself.
Crystal Theatre, with your help, will live on the black plastic it was born to haunt.
Thank you, friends, we wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for you!
WHAT WE’RE DOING Crystal Theatre is meant to be played on an old record player in a dark room where the picture painted is of a journey through small towns and deserted roadways. We want to present Crystal Theatre in a deluxe double gatefold sleeve on 180gsm vinyl and you can be a part of the creation.
WHY WE’RE DOING IT We are a band that gets caught in the mystery and nostalgia of places. When we wrote Crystal Theatre we were thinking of driving great distances through places unfamiliar yet recognisable, of isolation and desolation, of feeling trapped in a lonely town and escaping along vast highways. We were thinking about American films like Easy Rider, Badlands and Vanishing Point while dreaming about dwindling small-town Australia with its proud and deserted main streets, broken-down cars and creek beds lined with Ghost Gums. We imagined these towns and all the different characters that give those towns life. We hoped people would listen to Crystal Theatre on old record players or in junky car stereos. However we don’t make music in a time that generally respects those mediums as much as we used to. To put music on vinyl is expensive and, frankly, not sustainable on smaller scales and so our intentions had to change slightly and while we agree the music would still be able to tell the same stories, the mechanisms for delivery would have to be compromised. And so we released Crystal Theatre on CD and also digitally through places like iTunes and eMusic.
We’ve spent most of 2011 touring and the one request we’ve had consistently is for Crystal Theatre to be made available on vinyl. It seems that you, our audience, would prefer wax just like we would. And so we are planning one large Christmas present for you, for us and for anyone else who finds their way to Crystal Theatre. We are going to print a limited number of records and finally present Crystal Theatre as it was intended to be.
We can’t do this alone. We need your help and if contribute you shall be rewarded. We have lots of incredible incentives including hand drawn images, all of our back catalogue, private performances, original songs and of course, Crystal Theatre printed on 180 GSM vinyl, presented in a beautiful gatefold sleeve with artwork by Sonny and Biddy at We Buy Your Kids.
500 copies (which is the minimum order)
Double gatefold deluxe packaging
Printed on 180gsm vinyl (thick, beautiful wax that will last)
All of this in addition to the incentives we are offering
